CALLARD
LYDIA
About
My name is Lydia Callard and I am a junior from Marietta, Georgia. I am currently a working student for Sharon Enteen of Falcon Ridge Stables where I help oversee the care of over 30+ horses.
In just a year and a half I have moved up from the 2'6" to the 3'6" where I have received competitive results in the Older Small 3'3" Junior Hunters and in the 3'3" and 3'6" equitation medals. In 2024, I have qualified for the Gladstone Cup, NHS Hamel Medal Finals, USHJA Jump Seat Medal Finals, and Junior Hunter Finals. Outside of the show ring and the saddle, I spend ample time with the horses on the ground. I enjoy helping around the barn in any way I can from riding extra horses, assisting with veterinary work, and running everything behind the scenes on show days. I truly find the same amount of joy out of the saddle as I do in the saddle. When it comes to the horses, I believe wholeheartedly that they come first. I have helped bring along numerous green ponies and horses and get great satisfaction in watching them achieve big milestones as a developed horse with new riders.
My junior hunter, Souvenir, is a green seven year old who we purchased two years ago. We have picked up numerous championships and most recently finished Reserve Champion at Junior Hunter Finals in the 3'3" 16-17 Junior Hunters with multiple top 5 finishes for our first ever national final. The equitation horse I currently ride, Salano, is new to me and relatively new to the equitation ring as well. Together we have already been champion in the 15-17 Age Group Equitation and received numerous top three placings in competitive equitation classes.
While I do spend the majority of my time in the barn, I am also academically quite strong and maintain consistent A's & B's. I also play the violin in my school's orchestra and hope to study Pre-Vet or Biology in college and continue working in a field that involves animals.
Riding in college is a dream of mine where I hope I can continue to riding while achieving a higher education and being surrounded by a group of girls who are just as passionate about the sport as I am.
